While on an interview during his new adventure in Germany, Portugal star Andre Silva vowed to become the next Next Cristiano Ronaldo for his country.
Over the years, we have seen many Portuguese prospects who grew up watching Cristiano Ronaldo and had always hoped to emulate his illustrious career. Those are such players as Joao Felix, Goncalo Guedes, Bruno Fernandes, and Trincao. However, Silva has been an outstanding player who initially seemed like a possible heir to the throne when his career took off.
Recently, Andre Silva arrived in Germany to play for the top-flight German side Eintracht Frankfurt. Although the forward hasn’t been so fortunate during his career and he is already 24 years old, but his journey in German football has been quite a success so far as he works to return to an elite level.
Moreover, having Cristiano Ronaldo as a mentor and inspiration is a great deal of motivation. So he could quickly work his way back to the top by following in the steps of his idol.
Andre Silva’s Idol Is Cristiano Ronaldo Since His Manchester United Days
Speaking on Bundesliga’s official website, Andre Silva opened up about idolizing Cristiano Ronaldo since when the superstar was at Manchester United.
“My big idol? It was Cristiano because in my time he was already at [Manchester] United, and he was the star in Portugal,” said the Portugal star.
“I mean, I don’t live the same life as him, I can say for sure! But I imagine from what I see that it’s difficult because he’s a big idol, everyone knows him, everyone wants something from him,” he continued.
“But I mean, my way, it will be good if I achieve the same as Cristiano because he has done a lot and he still does it now. But I think my way is different, and I’m focused on my way, and Cristiano has his own way,” admitted Silva.
Then when asked if he could reach Ronaldo’s level, the Portugal star added; “Yeah, of course. If it’s possible to achieve the same as him, I’ll sign right now and say I want this.”
However, he admitted that it will be challenging to achieve the same as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner as it needs a lot of work and discipline to reach that level.
“I know it’ll be difficult to achieve the same as him, it needs a lot of work and discipline, but everyone is different,” said Andre Silva.
“I don’t know what will happen to me. I have dreams, I have my own goals, and I will try my best in my way, and I think that’s the most important thing,” added the Portugal star.
