Cristiano Ronaldo Leads 24-Man Portugal’s September UEFA Nations League Squad

Portugal is set to begin their UEFA Nations League title defense this September against Croatia and Sweden. Head coach, Fernando Santos has revealed his team’s UEFA Nations League squad ahead of games against Croatia and Sweden. The defending champions have a wealth of talent at their disposal going into the first round of the UEFA Nations League fixtures as the usual stars will feature.

Team captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, and other star players including Bruno Fernandes will be in action for their home country.

Also, Portugal’s UEFA Nations League squad includes a host of English Premier League stars, with eight of the 24-man squad plying their trade in England’s top-flight.

Joao Felix Can Equally Get His First Portugal Goal

Portugal’s prodigy Joao Felix will be presented with another opportunity to open his national team’s scoring account in this first set of UEFA Nations League fixtures. The youngster is yet to score a senior team goal for Portugal since making his debut.

Felix started the final against the Netherlands in 2019 and has a total of five senior team appearances to his name at just 20 years of age. So the upcoming fixtures are another opportunity for Joao Felix to get his first goal for Portugal.

While we can’t say it was a disappointing season, Felix returned six goals in 27 appearances in La Liga for Atletico Madrid in his first season after a big-money move from Benfica. However, his Champions League record looks better, having managed three goals in six appearances for the club.
