The 10 Highest Scorers In European Championship History
Going into European Championship history books, you find legends such as Michel Platini and Cristiano Ronaldo topping the list of highest scorers in European Championship history.
Platini and Ronaldo are tied in the first place as the highest scorers in European Championship history on nine goals each. However, this summer’s tournament offers Cristiano Ronaldo a golden opportunity to add to those numbers.
The Portugal captain can take Platini’s record straight up by scoring at least one goal. Plus given his phenomenal strike rate, it will take a brave man to bet otherwise.
Incredibly, the 36-year-old has scored in each of the European Championship tournaments he has played in since his debut in 2004. The superstar has played 21 games across the four different European Championship, bagging two goals in Euro 2004, a goal in Euro 2008, and three goals each in Euro 2012 and 2016.
Michel Platini, on the other hand, historically scored all nine of his goals in five games for France in Euro 1984.
Joining Platini and Ronaldo on the stage is Alan Shearer. The former Three Lions skipper may have scored seven goals in nine games, but he never won the European Championship.
While Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann sits in fourth with six goals in the bag. The Euro 2016 Golden Boot winner could rival the top spots this summer if he does well for France.
