Cristiano Ronaldo finally picks up the fifth IFFHS award for the International Top Goalscorer and celebrated with a photo, despite that the award was for 2019. On Friday, 18th August 2020, Cristiano Ronaldo finally received his fifth International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Top Goalscorer award of his career.
Meanwhile, only Ronaldo has five of this kind of award, while other players with more than just one only had two. The prize was delivered after Ronaldo scored a total of 21 goals for Portugal in 2019. He saw off competitions from other incredible international players.
Tottenham forward Harry Kane came second with 19 goals scored for England throughout that year. Kane’s England teammate Raheem Sterling, who scored 17 goals with the Three Lions, came to thrid. While Robert Lewandowski came fourth after reaching 16 goals with Poland.
Meanwhile, the 2020 award from IFFHS won’t be delivered due to the global pandemic and a lack of international games so far.
Ronaldo Adds to His Personal Accolades with Fifth IFFHS Award
Despite the pandemic, Cristiano Ronaldo also had another superb year with Portugal with the captain becoming only the second player in history to reach 100 international goals with his national team.
Now at 101 goals for Portugal, Ronaldo has the all-time record of 109 international goals ahead of him and hopefully, the star forward will break it soon. Hence, it’s arguable that Ronaldo is the greatest goalscorer of all-time.
IFFHS is one of the stats that prove Ronaldo as one of the greatest goalscorers who lived. We are optimistic to know how well Cristiano will end with his Portugal side. And with the FIFA World Cup around the corner, Cristiano will be hoping to feature, after he must have turned 37 by then.
