Cristiano Ronaldo was among those who were substituted at the end of the first half, including Weston McKennie, and Dejan Kulusevski. Goalkeeper Buffon came on for Wojciech Szczesny, while summer signing Arthur Melo replaces Andrien Rabiot.

Substitute Merih Demiral added the second for Juventus just before the hour mark after picking up a pass from Douglas Costa inside the six-yard box.

Ten minutes later, another substitute, Marko Pjaca, added a third for the Bianconeri. Juventus was then made to wait until the closing stages to complete the scoring run. Two goals in two minutes from Manolo Portanova completed the riot for Juventus in what was an impressive display for the Serie A champions.

New coach Andrea Pirlo would definitely be satisfied with the result; goals from four different scorers, including last season’s top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, would give him confidence ahead of the new season.
