Ali Daei: Cristiano Ronaldo Will Beat My Record And I Will Congratulate Him Directly
All-time international highest goalscorer Ali Daei is ready to congratulate Cristiano Ronaldo when he eventually becomes the leading all-time international goalscorer. The Portuguese phenomenon is his country’s greatest ever goalscorer, with his current international goals tally standing at 102. He is also the highest European international goalscorer.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is the only active footballer to have passed the 100-goal mark for a national team, and also the second person to do it in the history of football after Iranian legend Ali Daei.
The 35-year old has a knack for breaking old records and setting new ones, and next on the books for him to grab is Ali Daei’s international goalscoring record. Ronaldo is just seven goals away from overtaking the former Iranian forward as the all-time top scorer for a national team.

Ali Daei Expects Ronaldo To Break His Record
It is expected that the Juventus ace will make Ali Daei’s record his own in no distant time and now the record holder has shared a similar opinion.
“Not at all, it would be a real honour for me if a player of his class and calibre could do it. Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players not only of this era but ever. An absolute phenomenon,” Ali Daei said in an interview with Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.
“I would congratulate him directly, but first he has to get there. Cristiano Ronaldo is already at 102 goals with Portugal and will beat my record, I’m sure, but he still has seven goals to go,” he added.
