Cristiano Ronaldo Beats Lionel Messi For The Highest Ballon d’Or Points In History
The latest video has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo has racked up more Ballon d’Or points than Lionel Messi and every other person in the history of football. The duo had dominated the biggest football individual awards since 2008, with Luka Modric the only player to have won the award since this period till date when he broke the duopoly of Ronaldo-Messi in 2018.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi broke the tie between them last year when he won his record sixth Ballon d’Or, leapfrogging Ronaldo, who has five awards to his name with one. And for many football pundits and fans, it proves the Argentine’s supremacy in terms of their individual achievements. However, that might not be all true!
According to the latest video published by Youtube channel StatsTube, Cristiano Ronaldo has accumulated more Ballon d’Or points (3,601) when compared to his nemesis Lionel Messi (2,961) for nominations in the award’s history beginning from 1956 to 2019.
Luka Modric is a surprise name to appear on the list at the third place in a distant 837 points ahead of his Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane on 715 points.

Another surprise is Virgil van Dijk, who is the only non-Ballon d’Or winner to make the top 10 list as his name was found at the fifth position with 679 points after finishing runner-up to Lionel Messi in 2019.
