‘Ronaldo Did Not Respect The Protocol,’ Insists Italy Sports Minister

Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo has been consistently making been making headlines for the wrong reasons. And Italy sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora continues to insist that Ronaldo has himself to blame after the superstar tested positive for coronavirus weeks back.

While away on international duty with Portugal earlier this month, the Juventus talisman was diagnosed with the deadly virus, which has caused him to sit out a couple of games now.

Following the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Italy, Juventus players were placed in a protective ‘bubble,’ which has led to the question of why the Portuguese was allowed to leave Turin in the first place. The action was understood to be against the country’s safety protocols.

After Ronaldo was confirmed positive by the health authorities, he was then allowed entry into Italy from Portugal via a private jet, which further sparked the controversy. Meanwhile, the Bianconeri president Andrea Agnelli denied every allegation that the club’s biggest star had disrespected the safety measures, citing that Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Turin with a “medical flight authorized by the competent health authorities.”

Furthermore, Ronaldo himself claimed during an Instagram Live session that contrary to what was being speculated, he “did everything properly.”

But Italy sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora isn’t convinced and remains adamant that the 35-year old “did not respect the protocol.”

“On the way out, Ronaldo did not respect the protocol,” the Italy sports minister Spadafora told RAI program Che Tempo Che Fa, via Football Italia.

“There’s an investigation to prove it.”

Cristiano Ronaldo remains a doubt for Juventus crucial Champions League game against FC Barcelona on Wednesday having missed Juve’s last two fixtures against Crotone and Hellas Verona. The defending champions have stalled in both games playing out 1-1 draws in the absence of their talisman.
