Cristiano Ronaldo’s Heir Andre Silva Surpasses Haaland On Bundesliga Goals

Portuguese striker and Cristiano Ronaldo’s heir Andre Silva is now turning heads in the Bundesliga after some dip in form the last time out with Serie A side AC Milan. It’s a natural thing that if someone demands to know who is Frankfurt’s best striker that Luka Jovic would come to mind first. But then there’s another star in town now in 25-year-old Andre Silva.

The Portuguese striker is no stranger to big stages and he’s bound to give Luka Jovic a run for his money upon his loan return to his former club. Silva began his career at Porto and quickly emerged as one of the league’s best marksmen. With such development, it wasn’t difficult for the then youngster to make a high profile move. After scoring 21 goals in a single season for Porto at the age of 21, Serie A side AC Milan snapped the young striker for a whopping €38 million.

Unfortunately for Andre Silva and Milan, things didn’t actually go as planned and the youngster managed only 10 goals in his Serie A debut season with the Rossoneri. Silva was later loaned out to Sevilla the following year, where he got similar numbers.

Again, last season the Portuguese couldn’t get much playing time with the first team, so Milan decided to loan him out a second time, now to Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga. Andre Silva’s adaptation was much easier in Germany as he managed to find the back of the net a total of 16 times on 37 outings.

Moreover, the Portuguese striker dubbed as Cristiano Ronaldo’s heir has already matched his past efforts halfway through the present season. Following his back-to-back braces in the last two Bundesliga games, Andre Silva has now surpassed Golden Boy award winner Erling Haaland’s tally this season in German Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old forward now has 16 goals in just 18 games, which means that this could be the Portuguese’s best season yet. He is only behind Robert Lewandowski in the Bundesliga’s top-scorer charts this season.

Andre Silva Was Once Dubbed Cristiano Ronaldo’s Heir

Cristiano Ronaldo once dubbed his Portuguese compatriot as his heir back in 2017 when Silva moved to the Serie A. Andre Silva’s idol Cristiano Ronaldo had nothing but good things to say about his fellow countryman.

“When I retire, Portugal will be in good hands because they have already found a great striker: Andre Silva,” Ronaldo said via Goal.

However, the young forward was modest in his response to Ronaldo’s uplifting remarks. When quizzed about those words from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, the Frankfurt star was honored but felt he was far from deserving all of those words.

“I have a lot of work to do before I can express certain thoughts. No [I have not spoken to Ronaldo about the move]. I want to work hard to get closer to the words he has afforded me.

“Cristiano is Cristiano. Everyone dreams of matching him, but I have a long way to go. Cristiano Ronaldo is a legend and I want to follow in his footsteps – but as Andre Silva.”

Andre Silva is obviously enjoying one of the best seasons of his professional career with Eintracht Frankfurt this season!
