Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick at Cagliari has opened up a lead in the Serie A top-scorers chart as he bids to win the Capocannoniere for the first time since he arrived in the Italian league.
Having finished fourth in his debut season and runner-up the following campaign, the Portuguese is edging closer to becoming the Italian goal king in his third season with Juventus.
The 36-year-old forward scored his first hat-trick of the season in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Cagliari to increase his tally to 23 goals in as many Serie A games. After the weekend’s matchday, Ronaldo now holds a four-goal lead over Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku in the Serie A top-scorers chart.
