In an interview with talkSPORT, Arsenal fan and prominent British TV personality Piers Morgan revealed that he’s asked Cristiano Ronaldo to join the Gunners.
Morgan said: “Do you know what I’d do if I was Arsenal manager?
“I’d go in, get Cristiano Ronaldo and put him upfront. I’ve had this conversation with him last week; I said ‘come to Arsenal’.
“I’m not even joking. I’d love to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal. If he’s not going to stay at [Manchester] United, I’d take him in a heartbeat.
“I watched that game at the weekend [3-1 defeat to Arsenal] and he was the best player on the pitch.
“I don’t feel there’s that respect for Ronaldo at United from those younger United players.
“I think the egos are writing cheques that their lack of trophies doesn’t cash. And my message to those young United stars is, ‘You’re talented, but your egos are out of control’.”
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester United runs for another year but there has been speculation over his future lately.
The Red Devils won’t play in the Champions League next season, which is the 37-year-old’s familiar hunting ground.
Considering Arsenal’s progress in actually finishing fourth this season, it could make for an unexpected transfer. However, Ronaldo’s massive wages will be a problem, even if he agrees to take a pay cut.
