Fabio Coentrao: ‘Ronaldo is a monster who was born with natural talent’

Former Portugal international and Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate both at the national team and Real Madrid says the star forward is the “best in the world” and blessed with extraordinary talents. Fabio Coentrao is grateful to have played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and has described him as a “monster” whose natural-born talents and great work ethic have made him the world’s best player.

After witnessing Ronaldo’s remarkable skills closely at Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team on route to countless titles, the 32-year old has no doubt over who is No. 1 in the world.

“I often wish other people could have had the chance to work with him to see up close what he is like,” the left-back told O Jogo.

“He is a monster, a great friend and an excellent person. He was born with natural talent and he has worked very hard to become the best in the world.”

Fabio Coentrao and Cristiano Ronaldo won nine trophies during their stay together as Real Madrid teammates, including two La Liga titles and Champions Leagues, until the left-back left the Spanish giants in 2018 after a few loans spell away from the country.

Meanwhile, 35-year old Ronaldo has continued to enjoy more success with Juventus and Portugal. While Coentrao only recently ended an 18-month absence from football by re-signing for Portuguese club Rio Ave in October.

Ronaldo is also close to becoming the highest international goalscorer in the history of football with Portugal after reaching 102 goals for his nation. He now has seven goals to equal Ali Daei’s record of 109 goals for Iran.
