Jose Mourinho will be taking charge of AS Roma next season and will face Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A if the 36-year-old decides to stay put with the Old Lady. And now Mourinho is scared of his compatriot amid constant top performances.
“Cristiano Ronaldo should leave Italy now and leave me in peace,” Jose Mourinho said on talkSPORT.
“Everybody says, and I say the same, he’s not 25 anymore. He’s 36. He doesn’t score 50 goals, but how many did he score? 35.”
Mourinho, who managed Cristiano at Real Madrid, continued: “The record is incredible, the numbers speak by itself. He is a legend, one of the big names that stays forever in football history, but the guy motivates himself with numbers and new things. He wants to win the gold ball, the golden boot.
“He wants to get the record from the Iran [player] for goals for an international team, he wants to not just play in this Euros but the World Cup. I think critics motivate him. He still gets that extra motivation. Mentally he’s very strong.”
