Antonio Cassano: ‘Selfish’ Ronaldo Is Struggling At Juventus

Italian legend Antonio Cassano is of the view that Juventus is being forced to change their traditional playing style due to their star man Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to Cassano, Ronaldo is struggling to adapt to Juventus’ style of play under Andrea Pirlo, claiming that the Portuguese is full of himself on the pitch and doesn’t care about his teammates scoring.

This criticism from the former Italy striker came following Juve’s shocking 2-1 defeat to FC Porto in the Champions League last-16 first-leg tie on Wednesday.

Juventus were vulnerable in defense to concede two instant goals in both halves at the home of the Primeira Liga defending champions.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo had thought he could save his side’s blushes as he appealed for a penalty after being brought down inside the box in stoppage time.

After the frustrating game, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was seen fuming at the referee after the final whistle over being denied the chance to grab an equalizer at the stoppage time.

Manuel Neuer Reveals Why He’s Not Afraid Of Facing Cristiano Ronaldo

“I have always said, considering that he’s a phenomenon and has scored a billion goals, that it could be difficult with Andrea Pirlo’s idea of football,” Antonio Cassano said speaking to Bobo TV after the game.

” He scores a goal per game, it’s true, but struggles with the ideas of Andrea. He has always been a bit selfish, he doesn’t give a damn about others scoring goals, he’s the kind of player who lives to score.

“He doesn’t live for the play, the great match, he lives for the goal, and at this moment, the situation is getting worse.

” Years go by for everyone and he is having difficulties. Juventus are trying to change their ideas and play a different type of football, due to the qualities of Ronaldo.”
