It looks like each day Cristiano Ronaldo steps inside the pitch; his name will be entered into the record books. The last time out against Croatia on Tuesday, the Portugal captain might have failed to be on the score sheet but was able to write his name on the international record books. Ronaldo surpassed Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez to become the third player in the history of football with the most victories in international football.
The 35-year old recorded his 101st win for Portugal after helping the team beat Croatia 3 – 2 on Tuesday. Though he didn’t score in the encounter, he was still able to steal the headlines with another impressive stat.
After Portugal’s win against Croatia, Bleacher Report announced Cristiano Ronaldo’s 101 wins saw him enter the top three list of players with the most international wins. Ahead of Ronaldo in the list are his former Real Madrid teammates Iker Casillas (121 wins) and Sergio Ramos (130 wins).

Meanwhile, there are possibilities that Cristiano would beat Casillas’ record because he plans to play in the 2022 World Cup. Plus the young and promising squad at the Portugal national team at the moment, the former Spanish international’s record is definitely in his grasp.
However, beating Sergio Ramos for the overall record will be a tough task for the Juventus ace unless the Real Madrid and Spain skipper retires from international football before Ronaldo.
As of the time of writing, 29 wins separate Ramos and Ronaldo.
