Ferdinand sends tribute to Ronaldo after Record Breaking Goal

It took 17 years to break Ali Daei’s international goal record and Cristiano Ronaldo achieved that after scoring two late headers in the World Cup qualifier against Ireland in a 2-1 comeback win for Portugal.

The Portugal captain becomes the all-time leading goalscorer in men’s international football with 111 goals in 180 appearances for his national team.

Tributes from all around the world have been sent to the record-breaker including messages from Iranian legend Ali Daei. However, the highlight of it all is the award presented to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner by the World Guinness Records.

Also, Brazilian legend Pele and Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand sent tribute to Ronaldo after Record-Breaking Goal via Instagram and Twitter respectively.

Ronaldo’s former teammates and supporters have joined in sending him hearty congratulations for achieving this feat.

Pele wrote: “Cristiano, congratulations on breaking another record. You inspire us all with your ability to overcome any challenge.”
